Celebration of winner's 2018 Essay Contest

Safed House will hold an award ceremony for the 2018 essay contest winners on Wednesday November 7, 2018 at 6 p.m. The ceremony to celebrate the winners’ accomplishments will be held at Alhambra High School, located at 3839 W Camelback Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85019.

 

The winners are refugees attending high school in Arizona originally from Syria, Myanmar, Mexico, Nepal and Burundi.  Their stories recounted arduous journeys taken in hopes of a better life in America. First place winner Alaa Alothman, a Syrian refugee, and second place winner Poung Change, a Myanmar refugee, will be featured in video interviews.

 

Safed House is a 501 ( c)(3) non-profit that provides a welcoming place for refugees and recent immigrants to share their stories.
