Baraa Abdelghne Reports on working with Syrian Refugees
August 9th
Recently our first Safed House fellow Baraa Abdalghani shared the following with us.
This summer, I had the privilege of going on a medical mission and working with Syrian refugee children in Turkey and Jordan, focusing on camps and orphanages. My efforts included organizing creative projects, sports activities, and field trips to bring some joy and relief to these young lives.
Reflecting on this experience, I am reminded of my own journey. At the age of 12, participating in the Safed House writing competition, and having the opportunity to share my story as a Syrian refugee and connect with others. Now, I am in my sophomore year of undergrad at Stanford University, that experience continues to inspire me and push me to keep going.
Through my work this summer, I aimed to offer these children the same hope and support that Safed House gave me years ago. Seeing their smiles and laughter reinforced the power of compassion and the impact of giving back.
Thank you for supporting me on this journey and helping make a difference...Baraa Abdalghani.
